Making Root Beer with the SodaStream Penguin

We just bought a carbonating machine and the only extract we could find locally (Gnome, from a local brew supply store called Beer Crazy). This is our second attempt at making root beer with it. The first attempt went smoother, but the second round of root beer was better.

As a cider brewer I can tell you that adding anything (liquid or solid) to any type of carbonated liquid will result in a major loss of product. Hint: use a quarter cup of the liquid to be mixed. Add your solid or liquid to that and THEN add that to the remaining liquid. And for goodness sakes, buy an entire set of plastic funnels and several different sized screen that will hold a cotton or paper filter. Good luck.
