So I decided to abuse the Whammy today, and do a gained out version of Jimi Hendrix's little wing on my Squier Classic Vibe 50's

  • Might I ask why you used the 50's for this? I'm curious, I have the CV50's. Just wondering, did you use it because it's clearer or did you just use it cus it was lying around?

  • @pacrat90 Well I really like the way the CV 50s sounds and it had a really well set up trem that could be used without going crazy out of tune. I have a ton of guitars so whatever inspires me that particular day is the guitar that gets used.

  • Geezus christ. Damn dude you made that guitar sound like sex. What amp do you use??? And did you mod that 50's strat in anyway?

  • @Bsaefong The amps are a Epi Valve Junior and 80s Peavey Classic VTX running in stereo. The Guitar is bone stock.

  • Lol that guitar is sick, i played one of those at a music store in Saint John N.B. called Morris Music.

as soon as i picked up this guitar i went through the intro to voodoo chile, then thought about little wing and tried it out, and wow did it rock. These guitars are great, and play like high end fenders.

  • @pacrat90 Yeah its really not noticeable in most situations, especially in the studio where it can be gated and edited out. However in some bars with shoddy wiring you get the hum from hell, but Its worth it to me. I recently got a 78 Les Paul with Mini buckers and it doesn't hum, but it sings!

  • @TheStratplayer1 Very true, but what happens if you prefer the bell tone of the Neck or Bridge? And don't want the combination selection? Also, you're very right. it's not very bad, it's very possible to record, even at fairly high gain. But when you sit it alongside a Humbucker equipped guitar there is definitely a difference. But in my opinion, non of these little flaws can bring down the absolutely amazing tone you get from a strat, and how much flavour you can pump out of it. Strat for life!

  • @glthebest only if you turn your Marshall up full lol!

  • @pacrat90 It ain't necessarily so--These Squier Classic Vibe guitars have the same wiring setup as an SRV signature series ( I have had this one for 14 years)

Noiseless in the 2nd position (Neck Mid) and noiseless in the 4th position (mid and bridge) They have a Reverse Wound and reverse Polarity Middle pickup. So kool for quiet recording! So You have the best of both worlds... Regards
