I'd recommend Sad Piano Theme from Lunar. It plays after a few different events in the game. The most memorable moment to me is when the big villain's evil plan comes to fruition, erasing the main character's true love's memory, taking her from him emotionally and physically and the villain, Ghaleon, gains ultimate power. Afterwards, you fight Ghaleon and he utterly crushes you. After the characters wake up and recover from the battle this song plays. A few of the characters even give up hope.

Oh, God. The Gamma song really got to me. I haven't heard that in at least 8 years. The memories just came rush back like it was yesterday, though. That is so sad.
