When I first got my iphone, I was able to use the suction cup mount on a smooth plastic part of my dash. But over time, the fake wood laminate has stretched and the suction cup came off. Since my car is already 6 years old, and I plan to keep it until it breaks down, I figure I might as well my myself at home in it. So out comes the drill!! We're gonna make sure this iPhone mount STAYS PUT! I personally don't like having the suction cup mount on my windshield, which is why I've gone through all this trouble.

  • Idiot. New model comes out etc.. New mount! Hasn't thought it through properly moron

  • @p4rv32 The mounting plate is a standard slotted design . I've since replaced the original 3G plate with an iPhone 4 plate. The mounting plates are available for less than $8 shipped. But thanks for your concern!!

  • how much was that stand? just wondering. i got mine set up in my car already. kool idea tho i like it.

  • That stand was super cheap. It was like $8 with free shipping at the meritline web site.

  • nice video!

  • Good point there, although it's 7 months old. Cars are always being broken into, iPhone mounts are a hot item, and WILL promote break-ins. My friends have had their iPhone mounts stolen, it's always a good idea to hide them in the glove compartment. Hide EVERYTHING out of sight, they'll more likely move onto the next car.

#1 advice, if you give them a chance, they'll take it. Goes with bags, wallets, any devices, decks, sunglasses, jackets, cloths, the smallest amount of change.

  • @p4rv32 Hey kid, be more human

  • Why shouldn't you use landscape mode with your iphone in the car? You say you shouldn't use it horizontally, at 5:17. . .

  • I think you should run the Aux cable through the same hole you made for the mount and have all those wired maybe zip tied to the mount structure out of sight. Radio Shack has a nice cigarette lighter charger/Aux cable combo the you could run that will let you charge your phone too. Great effort though. Really good job.

  • you da man.

  • Co idea man

  • glove box, with an extension cord with ipod/iphone in cup holder wouldve been better.

  • you could've got a vent mount instead
