This is AWFUL. How does this qualify as a real sport? These old school derby fans REALLY need to watch WFTDA teams at the national level (such as KC, Rat City, TXRG, Gotham). What exactly about a pile of people HITTING each other makes this a sport? PITIFUL!!! I'm SO glad that the sport has been revolutionized and completely changed. Here's a good case where OLD SCHOOL = CRAP.

And I'm sure your Roller Derby is real lol. These skaters you see on my videos were the very best, highly skilled and artistic in what they did. I have the utmost respect for putting their bodies on the line for all those years.

The ARSD has girls that skate a real game. Most of the girls in the other so called leagues however make no attempt to skate a real game and just a parody. So that is sill NO roller derby.

The people in the video above are real athletes & yes, they put their bodies on the line, granted. Everyone in the modern day derby movement respects them for that & appreciates their effort over the years.. But with all respect, do some research about WFTDA. There is no fake-ness about today's game whatsoever.

I agree with you if you're referring to Roller Games which made no pretense of a real game. The difference between Roller "Derby" and Roller "Games" is like apples and oranges...wasn't the same animal in any shape, manner or form. Many people try to lump them together which is unfair. We aren't going to agree on this and I'm sure you are probably a nice person nonetheless so have a nice day.

Watching the old derby is laughable as often as it was good. Don't kid yourself. The over the top 'bad guys' weren't just annoying, they were sad. When they stuck to skating it was decent but by the end of the 60's it was mostly arm flailing, chair throwing and very, VERY bad storylines.

You may not like the fact that times and fashions have changed but the girls of today in many cases would mop the floor with the girls of that era. Especially the Renegades.
