RAPAPORT...

The JA New York show closed on Tuesday with mixed reviews as far as diamond jewelry demand. But independent jewelry designers who have extraordinary passion for their craft reported strong demand for one-of-a-kind collections. Lower price points continued to play an important role in these new designs too, given the tight retail trading market in the U.S.

New diamond jewelry designs from Erica Molinari proved to be popular at the JA New York winter show.

Designer Ray Griffiths shows his new designs using gemstones acquired this year that he set using his signature "crownwork."

The JA New York winter show was a first appearance for designer Sarah Richey of Ethereal. She shows how her jewelry collection drew inspiration from Central Park in Manhattan.

New jewelry designer Grace Freeman, a Strongheart fellow, describes how her debut "Liberation Necklace" was inspired by a broken door in the house where she was kept as a child slave.
