In Part 2, filmmaker Matthew Millan elucidates on what he saw in the first few days he was in Benghazi. On May 1st, he was rudely awaken by anti-aircraft fire that erupted all over the city. Curious, he watched the show for a few minutes before turning on Al Jazeera, and discovering that Saif al Arab Gaddafi was killed in a NATO airstrike.
Intermittently exploding with gunfire, nights in Benghazi reveal a hive of activity. Neighborhoods are being cleaned and guarded by volunteers. By the courthouse gather hundreds, eager to share the news of the day, and gather any shred of new information. And the media center is packed with newspaper volunteers and musicians. Civil order in the fog of chaos. This is the Libya that Matthew Millan saw in his first week in the East.
Matthew reported from El Fadeel Hotel, then base of operations for the TNC.
