Here are 2 incredible performers, though you'd never know by the terrible quality of the visual. From "Timbuktu," a beautiful broadway recreation, from 1977 of "Kismet." Wish the video matched the audio.

  • A great shame this show never recorded a cast album.

  • @Coley8 Thank You! I'm also disturbed that this show wasn't ever recorded as a cast album; it certainly deserved it! I hope you'll view some of the other clips, though they're a little like this; grainy! Best wishes, and thank you once more for your comment!

  • I'm delighted! Knowing I've received your "seal of approval" pretty much makes it all worthwhile! Though "lost," this is still a genuine classic and needs to be honored. Thank you!

  • What a beautiful voice Gilbert Price had. Such a pity he died young.

  • Their marvelous voices and elegant,

    powerful presence come roaring over

the floodlights!!! They are very well

    matched and make this broadway

    classic immediate and unforgettable.

Thank you. Lousy video, great performance!!!

  • Sing Bruce and Vanessa! As a very young performer I had the opportunity to work with both of them.

  • @Coley8 I agree, I loved this show. I was a friend to Gilbert and got to sit backstage with him, Melba Moore (whom I'd met in Hair), Geoffrey Holder and of course Eartha Kitt (who tried very hard to get me into her Limo and go to her hotel with her, saucy woman).

  • I grew up in NYC(Queens) in the Sixties and have vivid memories of attending Bway shows first with my family, then during high school with a friend. We used to mingle with the intermission crowd on the street in front of a theater at Saturday matinees. Then we'd discreetly move inside and stand at the back for the second act.Remember SRO?If we liked the show,we'd save our allowances for tickets to see the whole thing.I remember seeing Gilbert in Roar and listening to him on our OBC record for yrs.

  • I remember this vividly. I saw it in August 1978 on Broadway with Melba Moore. I was a music major (voice-baritone) at the University of New Haven in Ct. All I can say is awesome. I wish I could find a video copy of the original...

  • This is Bruce Hubbard, not Gilbert Price. Gilbert did the original show with Melba Moore.

  • I first became aware of Gilbert Price when I saw him in Two Gentlemen of Verona in Melbourne, Australia in 1973. I saw TIMBUKTU! on Broadway in 1978 and spoke to him afterwards, a true gentleman. Ten years later I was flying out of JFK when I read of his death. Very sad. Where did you find these tapes? Were you involved with the show?

  • What a glorious voice Mr Price had.
