This is one of my prized welsummer hens, a breed that lays dark brown eggs with brown spots.
Unfortunately some of the birds have gotten out of the habit of using the nests, so she was having a fit because I wasn't letting her lay her egg in the corner of the coop.
It has a happy ending though!

  • How do you know when the egg is fertilize by the ropster?

  • @Skull74657 The only way to find out is to incubate it and hold it against a light to see if it starts to develop. I have plenty of roosters, so most of the eggs I get are fertile.

But even if an egg is fertile, there's never a chick until you start the incubation process. A fresh fertile egg is exactly the same as a fresh, non fertile one.

  • Do different-colored eggs taste any different from the white variety?

  • Nope, the difference is only shell deep.

Welsummer eggs have thicker shells, but an egg is an egg.

  • I don't suppose you have cheese to go with those eggs, eh? :D

  • We have no cows or goats, so only the supermarket variety :)

  • it looks sorta like a roo! lol

  • Ooh! Chickens!

  • Most hens won't allow that, laying is a vulnerable moment, so their instinct is to get away from everyone and everything.

  • good but i wish i could of seen it lay an egg
