My masterpiece, "Bluelight". It has been nearly a year now since i build this pc. Time to pay it a little respect... It deserves it.

--------------

This PC was NOT supposed to be a modding PC (Ok, maybe a bit for show off ;-) ). It was supposed to be a plain, simple, selfbuild gaming computer with overwhelming power (wich it had back then, and still has). Also, i wanted to test out some new technologys, like watercooling, quadcores and raid-harddisks (yep, back then they were new). Crossfire and SLI was still to buggy and expensive to test out (i belive it's still today).

--------------

SPECS:
Case: Gigabyte 3D Mercury black - GZ-FW1CA-AJB
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
PowerSuply: 750W Be Quiet Dark Power P6 Pro
DVD-Drive: TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D163A
DVD-Burner: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S203B
CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 [2.40GHz]
RAM: 2gb DDR2-RAM Corsair - PC-800
Harddisks: 2x 500gb SATA II/300 - WD5000YS - Raid Edition
Graphics Card: Club 3D HD 2900XTX 512MB [Watercooled]
Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

--------------

Q: Why is there a picture of the RAM and the harddisks on Day 1, but they got installed much later ?
A: Because on Day 1, they got delivered - as most of the components.

Q: Why do the DVD Drives get installed at day 1, but get "cabled" at Day 3 ?
A: Well, i had no use for them till Day 3, had I ?

Q: Whats with the messed-floppy-thingy at Day 3 ?
A: I installed it "temporarly" so i could feed the windows xp install with the important raid-drivers (at this time, raid-driver installation over a usb-stick were crap)

--------------

Edit:
YAY, +20.000 Views, Thank you all very much! I'm planing to make an Update-Video in May 2010, as I hope to have the money required by then. The Update will include: New Graphiccard(s) (Crossfire, if i get the money together) and new Harddisks.

I should also note, that i recently upgraded from the inital by me installed Windows XP to the fresh & new Windows 7. And it works like a charm.

Edit 2:
+50.000 Views, you people are insane! Well... I still lack the money for a new graphics card, but I may have all the money together in august (waiting for my next payment). See ya guys!

  • Fan on top of the CPU water block? Epic Fail.

  • @TheBTraiin Yes, and guess what, there is a reason why the fan is there, so I object to your fail claim. As you can see, it's not mounted directly to the cpu-heatplate, but with a lot of space in between. The reason for this is so that the fan can cool some minor components around the CPU, too. So it's actually an epic win sir!

  • @MrAben1995 & @frozenskipper

hehe, thanks :D your comments made my day :D And yeah, that PC is outdated, so thats why it was upgraded :P However, I don't see any point in upgrading the CPU. No game whatsoever causes any stress to my current CPU, so why burn many and upgrade for nothing?

  • Umm dumb question here, but did you buy the water cooling stuff separately from the case? or is it included with the Gigabye 3D Mercury Black?

  • @frostraven23 Yes, and no. Alle the essential parts are there, like the pump, etc... I only had to buy tubes for connecting the graphics card. Everything else is included (and built in!) in the mercury case :)

  • But will it blend? :D

  • @Cowsaysm000 Phu.. Bluelight smoke, don't breathe this! :D

  • @Mixamaximus intel core 2 quads used to be pretty high end to be fair

  • "Xtreme Gamer PC"

Single graphics card. Only 2 RAM slots filled. >_>

I realize this was in '08 but it's still nothing I would have considered extreme. Liquid cooling doesn't make it extreme. top-end components and some major overclocking make it extreme. Neither of which I see here.

  • @k1ll3rfr3ak1 it needs 2 gigs ram for low grapich an on full grapichit need 4

  • @Kernle32DLL there is no real epic fail in this build. but i dont see the necessity of water cooling it. Do you overclock much?

also, consider switching to a black light and adding the ink from a blue highlighter to your water. then you will have more glow and less shadows (as the tubing basically covers the entire motherboard.) I did this once and it looked beautiful. Now I am more into the passive cooling, but thats just me ^_^

  • I hope Gigabyte send you some free stuff .....Their logo is on EVERYTHING lol

  • Bunt

  • @asalikus ok yes i think 4 gigs are better than 2 gigs for high settings!I already bought the limited edition :DD

  • @k1ll3rfr3ak1 yeah i messed up with the maximum =-)
