This is a first prototype of L-6 which was powered with only 2 x 165 hp rotor experimental engines with 6 people on board and full loaded fuel. It was an experimental phase, now L-6 is modified to La-8 with 2 x 250 hp Lycoming engines, see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnDovl42m78 , which takes off water within 200 m full loaded with 8 people on boards. There is a younger brother of L-6 - L-42 powered with 2 Rotax 912 ULS (100 hp) or 2 Rotax 914 (115 hp) which has similar take off distance and it is 4 - seater. See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXaxleJbgEM but main thing is that they have realy big hull with lot of place inside, they are very good on waves and very easy to fly, much easier than Lake LA-4. Now L-6 is producing with 2 x 200 hp Lycoming engines and it ihas enough power for 6 people on board. At first modification there were installed small non effecive propellers.

  • Very soon prototype of L-6 new designed version will be presented. So I advise to wait a bit because it promisse to be very interesting and exelent performanced plane

  • Does this thing really do fly???

  • why not?

This is an old modification of L-6 with rotor wankel engines 165 h.p. each and "small" props (new rotor engines were tested). So, that's why maybe looks that it needs some power. But now L-6 is build with 215 h.p. engines with Ivoprop propellers. And now it needs only 150-200 m for water take off.

  • That thing took off because the earth curves

  • This plane looks to be under powered and a lug to get up on the step. I thought it would never get airborne. Back to the ol drawing board! Needs more power and or less weight. Great video!

  • whats george w bush doing piloting a russian seaplane?

  • @globalpilot76 I absolutely agree! Exactly what I thought. It easily submerges one sponson and it seems impossible to do anything against that as long as speed is low and there is low airspeed on the ailerons.

  • I can see it needs:

    -more power (2x IO-360's)

-larger wingtip sponsons (crosswinds are gonna sink the upwind wing)

-re-design of the bow section to reduce spray on the props...chines perhaps?

    Otherwise it looks beautiful!!....

  • im confused this country is developing a stealth fighter the Pakfa stealth bomber the Pakda Borei 955 submarine 4th generation sub a space craft fighter a UAV based on the Mig SKat with energy weapons to be 6th gen fighter why the hell with all the Ekranoplans is its flying this thing lol

  • @spinkle2000 hahahahaha that´s right!!

  • @CATTOBAR

whatever it costs, it'll be measured in bottles of vodka

  • looks like its going to sink

  • Great !! how much?

  • Very cool, but man that thing floats low in the water. Wouldn't want even the smallest wake or that cool amphibian plane becomes a submarine.
