the 1000HE has a huge battery life.
while the 1008HA is more about being ultra thin and stylish at the cost of not being able to easily change your hardware (which too be honest, most netbook users won't be doing anyways)
have you looked at the 1005HA? it's a little bit of both worlds. because it has a removable battery you can get 6-cell batteries which give it good life but it still has the slimmed down seashell shape sans the little plastic covers.
