  • @superjail1000 I'd say that being religious in no way makes it granted that you have healthy morals. Religion doesn't make you incorruptible. Especially when you're told by an unverifiable, invisible "divine" authority to kill. Sure, there are a lot of good things religion has to say in general, but I say this:

We should do good and maintain morals because we want to and because we love each other. Not because god tells us to and not because we fear hell or desire heaven.

  • Dammit Satan, stop impersonating God!

Now that you say it I realize the voice actor for the narrator, for "God", and the mother is the same one 0.0

So, is mom Satan as well?

  • @ArkBlitz Why to be good and why to continue existing are two different questions.

So you're asking what the meaning of life is? Why exactly life came into being I cannot answer, but life exists to survive and reproduce. That is the basic mechanic.

We as humans can choose not to reproduce or survive. We decide what we want to do with out lives; it's an individual issue. Life has only the meaning which we give it. I get the impression that you have assigned little meaning to life in general.

  • @Ragnarockalypse What I mean is, why to keep living and evolving if there's no reason to simply stop doing it? Or in other words, why to be good?

  • @ArkBlitz I'm not sure if you're using the term "justify" correctly here. Evolution exists independently of humans. It is not a product of man such as law enforcement or politics; we have little control over it as individuals or even as nations. To me it is an irrelevant question, as if you would ask me to justify the fact that the Earth is round or that it revolves around the Sun.

  • @Ragnarockalypse Fine. But is there a reason to justify our evolution as a species, besides our instinct to survive?

  • @ArkBlitz It seems to me you're overthinking this. A stable and peaceful existence where people do not murder and steal from each other facilitates scientific, technological, artistic and social growth and progress. It elevates us as as a species, adding to our chances of survival as well as cultural evolution.

Granted, wars spur technological advancements as well, but for the wrong reasons.

  • @Ragnarockalypse Technically, yes, morality can be seen as a group of strategies for better living. Now, is there any rational justification for having a better living, other than our own instinct of survival? Wouldn't that convert it into a circular demonstration?

  • @ArkBlitz Survival, freedom from pain and an ensured continued existence are all compatible with working towards a more peaceful, less bigoted and more loving world and humankind.

  • @ArkBlitz the awkward moment when you have to explain to a Christian that the Old Testament is not in any way invalidated by the coming of Jesus...

  • @Ragnarockalypse Reductionism can, well, reduce every value and feeling of humanity to a combination of strategies to either survive, avoid pain, or ensure viable descendance. To every living being in Earth.
