This recording is a sight-reading of an orchestration project of mine. The piece is mvt. 1 [Lent (mélancolique et doux)] of Claude Debussy's Images (oubliées) : three pieces for piano.
I orchestrated the piece in 2006, and this recording is the first reading of it by the Vanderbilt University orchestra, conducted by Emelyne Bingham. [Orchestration by Bradford H. Ralston]
A few disclaimer notes: the concert bells are meant to be crotales, my trumpet writing was too high for some of the cold entrances they had, there is a section with alternating legato 8ths notes between the winds and strings that admittedly did not work (my fault), and the orchestra did an amazing job for having had the music for all of ten minutes.
This is great stuff dude.
