@MrErtonn, Oh God, the "united statesian" police. Yes I know the English language is from England, that's why I said "a lot" don't speak any English. I will try to catch a concert eventually.
@tacomadc wow you're from usa aren't you ^^ you know that the english language is from england ? anyway I think if he' s been able to create kobaian i might probably in his life learn english . in music industry most people speak english anyway , as i do . but take your chance to catch the next concert , because he allready made some nice representation in new york . and you're right he's from jazz but after coltrane's death he stoped and created magma .
Christian must have had some serious jazz lessons from good teachers. You don't teach yourself to play like that - never.
That's one question I'd have - can and will Christian speak English with people? A lot of Europeans can't. But he has to know that's where a large number of his most avid fans are. I'm guessing he's a very private, shy guy, who probably is quite friendly when you get to know him.
@tacomadc : the drumset Christian Vander plays here is the Gretsch 18-inch he received from Elvin Jones when he was still a kid. (his father, Maurice Vander, was a jazz pianist).
Years ago, Christian and me became friends. he invited me in his home recording studio in Paris (Rue des Accacias) where all Magma's music was recorded! He even let me play on the original Fender Rhodes that was used in Magma's first album! A moment I'll never forget!
@tacomadc : To understand the music of Magma, one ought to know that Christian Vander (vocalist, drummer and front man who created this band in the late sixties) mixes 3 universes to create the a new universe :
1) John Coltrane
2) Carl Orff
3) Otis Redding
Add to this that Christian Vander, as a 6 year old kid, created his own language, called "Kobaia". That's the language he uses for all the lyrics of Magma.
