@conmaesta You missed my point. Black roots music was largely ignored by white americans unless a white person was performing it. England gave black musicians an environment to flourish in and, as you say, assisting its acceptance in America. The reason many great blues guitarists of the 60's came from England is because London was a major cultural hub for the blues (and guitar music in general), owing to the fact the areas in America where the blues originated were in largely intolerant of it.
