good refresher. thanks.

sudo is to execute a command as another, and when not specified it will execute the command as root, since root is default. :)

All commands are case sensitive arent they? You should tell people how to kill processes. Say VLC is not responding I just open the terminal and type pgrep vlc then it tells me a number like 15325 then I just type kill 15325 and it instantly shuts down the process. Used to piss me off not being able to shut down an unresponsive program.

Now THIS is a great tutorial about how to work with the terminal.
I must put this video producer in my favorites. I wouldn't want to plow through some of these poor ubuntu videos twice!
My advise is to keep a list of the good ones and a list of what to avoid.

Ubuntu FTW
sudo is actually a security purpose implementation as if you run as a normal user (without root privileges) and you take an virus (for example) and he tries to run some things he can't because he won't have the privileges to do that, like editing important files and stuff, and then sudo pop-up and says: "Hey! I need the password to run those actions you requested"
not sure if I am 100% correct
