2009 FEI World Cup Dressage Finals in Las Vegas Edward Gal - Wynton - NED (black) Stephan Peters - Zidane - USA This was the warm up for the young horse exhibition.
@bizzybijtje Anywho, pointless argument, the horse was done with competing, in my eyes if thats the case and without a veiw to returning him to the ring thats retired from competition. Thats just my opnion. In other words, he stopped competing. And clearly, with good reason and at a rather young age for a slow maturing horse.
@bizzybijtje I know his official retirement wasnt until a week before he died..Ive seen the photos etc etc etc, but the horse stopped competing in 2007. To quote Eurodressage, the stallion called it quits himself by refusing to piaffe. He was no longer competing, so for all intents and purposes, as a compeition horse, he was retired. Just because they didnt have a big hulla baloo about it with a ceremony proclaiming him this and that doesnt mean that he hadnt already been retired.
He acually retired from competition in 2007 after the horse refused to piaffe. I can send you some links to vids and articles confirming this if you like. Yea, sadly he did die, supposedly from an aortic tear...such a pity coz Gribaldi was beautiful.
Exactly well Totilas is out of this world, Peter is an exceptionally good rider but i think he is a bit fiddly with the reins. Like everyone has a weakness anyway i've seen peter ride his horses round and deep! so stop it you guys!
Thats wrong i've just looked up on the Edwards website and the last competition he competed at was 2006 not long ago really and he came 2nd in a Grand Prix Special Test with 70% you don't get 70% for being loopy in a test and before you say all the other tests B4 this last one was consistent 70% Winning or Second Place!! He Retired to Stud Duties get your facts right!
He was 15 when he was retired and loopy, thank you, the horse couldn't piaffe in the end to save himself without throwing a tantrum of some description...not to mention that he was in and out of competition for a couple of years before that due to lameness/loopyness
Steffen Peters is prolly my favorite rider

No he didn't...
Yes, he wasn't riding at competitions but he wasn't 'officially' retired.
That was last month. In Den Bosch, search on YT for 'Gribaldi Den Bosch' and you'll see :)
