The Fight for Air Climb is the American Lung Association in Illinois' competitive stair climb being held on February 20, 2010 at the Hilton Springfield. It is sometimes referred to as a vertical road race since it requires individuals to move their entire body weight vertically rather than horizontally. However, it isn't just a race...while many individuals run up the stairs as fast as they can, the Fight for Air Climb welcomes individuals of all athletic capabilities. Novice and experienced climbers of all ages are welcome! Participants can climb as individuals or in teams (4 or more people). We encourage friends, family, colleagues and others to join you or form a team of their own to create some friendly competition. Proceeds from the Fight for Air Climb benefit the mission of the American Lung Association: to save lives, improve lung health and prevent lung disease. Funds raised will support lung health research, education and advocacy in Illinois. For more information or to register go to www.FightForAirClimb.org
Thanks for posting this. Even just seeing how the stairs are set up will give people a better idea of what to expect on climb day.
It looks like one long set of stairs per floor--two flights with a small landing in-between. Terry was doing 5 double steps for each flight, so I think that's about: 10steps-landing-10steps, turn 180 left at the top, repeat. :) Information from one of the bootcamps states that the start is at the lower concourse level, so it's 32 floors total.

Terry,
You look great but you would have looked better with the Orange West Coast Labels shirt on!
