Independent since 1974, Guinea-Bissau has never known the necessary political stability for its economic development; nor the improvement of its citizens living conditions. The SWISSAID Foundation has been active in this small Western African country since 1980. Among the many projects undertaken on site, one takes on the noble challenge of bringing drinking water to populations among the most isolated in the country. SWISSAID and the agricultural organization put together several well-digging teams. They take action in two of the countrys regions: Oio and Cacheu. By restoring or digging up new wells, these well-diggers bring water to villages and hygiene into homes.
