MasterCard rules prohibit merchants from requiring ID for a MasterCard transaction when the back of the card is signed.

@NHRHS2010 yeah when you see signs that are a direct violation just take a photo and submit a merchant report to MasterCard: bit . ly /hYLg0F -- within a month the sign will be down :D

@thelucky225 yeah that's bullshit. I don't know what state you're in but stores in your area doesn't seem to know proper credit card policy. There was even a sign at Square One convenience store saying it's store policy to require ID for cc. I knew that someday I'd get it on tape, though not as successful as you.

@NHRHS2010 Yeah, Walmart's 'over $100' isn't 'policy' either, the registers clearly state 'COMPARE SIGNATURE', they've tried to argue that it means compare signature on ID, until I point out that they don't do that and wouldn't need the credit card to compare a signature on a driver license to the one on the pin pad, they're pretty retarded sometimes, yeah, I've been asked for ID at Ihop and now denny's, both were really bad and I regret not getting it on tape, I mean the food's already ate...

@thelucky225 And I don't get why some walmarts do ask for ID regardless of price tag. Some only ask for ID over $100. I'm fortunate that I have never been asked for ID whenever I use my card at Walmart.

@thelucky225 Well that sucks with Denny's. Good thing I now have an iPhone so that it would be hard to tell whether I'm filming. Restaurants don't usually ask for ID. I live in New Jersey and most cashiers don't ask for ID for credit cards, although a few has. I also had a bad time at Disney World and Universal Studios when trying to purchase a ticket for admission.

@thelucky225 The last time before I had started recording was at a Walmart(which is why I continue to document walmart so much), I called 800-MC-ASSIST on speaker phone and had the indian overseas support tell them they're required to accept signed MasterCards without ID as it was part of their merchant agreement and a condition of acceptance.

@NHRHS2010 It really just depends on which cashier you get, I've ran into the same crap you have over and over again, after getting tired of not being able to document these situations I finally started recording them, ever since then (with the exception of Denny's but forgot I even had my cell on me) no one's hassled me about it when I state my spiel, but that doesn't mean folks won't still refuse, which is why I continue to record, at Denny's they tried to call cops on me didn't get on tape :(

Was the statement "it's against (insert name of card company) policy to require ID" the key to successfully refusing ID? Like I mentioned in my comment in your other video, I said "back of the card is signed" and the cashier cut me off and demanded ID.

@Eceoes WRONG, if a store has a policy in violation of MasterCard's rules they can STOP accepting credit cards as they are in VIOLATION OF THE AGREEMENT THAT *THEY* SIGNED AND AGREED TO AS A *CONDITION* OF ACCEPTING CREDIT CARDS. It's very simple, if you as a Store wish to accept credit cards as a form of payment, then you as a store accept and agree MasterCard's rules, if you don't like the rules don't sign on the dotted line or terminate your merchant account and stop taking credit cards.

Stores should be obligated to check credit cards because the STORES are liable for accepting stolen credit cards. Stores also have the right to refuse sale on any grounds they see fit.
Also I have read the Master Card statement, and even if it says that stores "have to" accept signed master cards, these are not recognized by federal law. A store can still hold the right to refuse sale, and that can override the mastercard policy.
