I'm sure that in a parallel universe we might have spent the 1980s listening to more great music like this. Isn't it fabulous? Almost three decades old and so fresh. There is some clever delayed multitracking in the choruses that gives the sound a sort of "shimmer". Pure Abba...but great here.

One thing I have noticed, when white artist reach a certain pinnacle in rock music the next plateau for them is usually a dip in soul music on some level, check out the Clash - Radio Clash video smack dead of the same era.

Another notice is that this song is almost in praise of young black women, which is surprising coming from a white man, the lyrics are neat set to double dutch but one should really listen

All that said, music has no color, its all beautiful......God bless

those people who truly TRULY love music and a full appreciation and understanding of the musical family tree will always give props and maximum respect to malcolm mclaren. a true visionary of music, who was way ahead of his time.
i remember growing up to this track (and yes, i used to skip to it as well)!!

thats the mark of an artist you has passion for what he's creating rather than 'artists' who are milking what is in vogue now.
well done.

Music is Township, skipping is N.Y.C.!!! Elsewhere on the same album was scratching and square dance calling in the same song.... get it now?
