His tempo gives this piece some nice energy, and when you practice it for a while you probably notice that it is not as hard as it may seem at first. Hardest part is keeping it 'crisp' I think
It will become less intimidating once you realise that Barenboim is playing it several BPM higher than is notated. In my edition, at least, the piece is supposed to be between 112-120 BPM, per dotted quarter. Use your metronome; that is a lot slower than this. Practice with a metronome until you can play it flawlessly at 130, and then playing it at the notated tempo will be a breeze.
@silveralpaca123 yeah, i'm learning this too, with an instructor. . . she tells me that these pros always do the autotune, whatever, and they do all sorts of thing to make it sound fast and all perfect. so have faith! (:

You don't have to play it this fast. I'm learning it right now, and I don't plan to play it nearly as quickly as Barenboim did.
