  • what year is your son's klr? Also, What are your opinions on the BMW? I want a nice adventure bike, but seeing as I'm 23 with a low income, the KLR is probably going to fall in my price range...

  • @slowandeasy The KLR is a 2006. The models made in 2008 to the present have some good upgrades to them, I'm told. The GS is a 2000 model I bought used a few years ago. I enjoy riding both bikes, but the GS is more expensive to purchase, insure and maintain. I can do most of the work on the KLR, but not on the GS. If I were starting out, I'd go for the KLR and put the extra money into upgrading it.

  • Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I am watching it with my 5 year old looking forward to the day we can do this together.

  • Glad you liked it. When my son was 5, he rode behind me in his bicycle seat on my mountain bike. He didn't get interested in motorcycles until he was in his early 20's. He loves the riding out west. I rode with him last month in Montana and Idaho and am working on a new video of those rides.

  • great video..I live in W V and have ridden some of these same roads on my VTX 1800. My brother-in-law has almost convinced me to buy a KLR...your video is helping him.

  • The KLR is a great bike. I like the simplicity of it versus the BMW, but the GS wins for long road trips. The KLR is a 8-9 hour bike, while the GS is a 12-14 hour bike. That is my body's judgment, but I'm a lot older than you are. You won't go wrong with whatever you get. Have fun.

  • There aint no better way to explore the countryside / outback then on a motorcycle.

  • I wish my dad approved of motorcycling, then I show him my klr, and we could go on adventures like you

  • Geez, your son acts like he's miserable the entire time. I thought this looked like a great ride! Makes me want to buy a KLR!

  • This has got to be one of the all time coolest dads. I love the video.

  • Great video. Very well done! I own an '11 KLR and appreciate these vids.

  • great video, I hope to see more

  • I read your ride report on advrider. Cool to discover your video. BTW, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an 1150 gs myself.

  • Great video, really enjoyed it...especially as a longtime sport tourer who made the switch to a '09 KLR last year.
