  • Insist on a general anaeshetic. I was put under for mine other wise I wouldn't have had it done. There seem to be a certain blase approach by male gynaecologists to this procedure. Perhaps if they experienced a metal probe and camera up their penis and rootled up their testicles or bladder they might be more inclined towards an effective anaesthetic.

  • Noticed they didn't show the woman's face during the operation. I imagine it was horrendously painful! Also, they didn't say how long it was after the operation before she jumped into that car and drove away. I also noticed that there are no comments on this site about people who actually underwent them. A uterine biopsy is painful enough. I would be terrified of this sort of thing.

  • Just got it done @1130 am with a 800 mg ibuprofen. It was extremely painful. It's 6pm and I still have these pains. I wish they had something better than a pain killer.

  • had a hysteroscopy D&C done a week ago and went under general anaestetic....the only painful part was the waiting to go into theatre....otherwise, it was good! waiting for test results in a few weeks. DEFINATELY RECOMMEND GENERAL ANAESTETIC as you don't have to worry about pain during and after the procedure. :)

  • I've been diagnosed with endometrial polyp and pcos.I'm due to have an hysteroscopy but some of these comments are worrying!

  • Had this done yesterday. I didn't take any pain killers. I had an MEA in 2008 and there was scar tissue that had to be torn to get into the uterus. Truthfully it hurts worse than child birth. I almost vomited, fainted and sweat rolled off my face. BUT it was worth it to find out I don't have cancer. I recovered fast with air. Within 30 minutes I drove myself home. Today my chest and back muscles hurt to talk even let alone move. I'm taking 3 days off work. It is a lifesaving treatment. Do it!

  • Yes, this hurts to just watch.

  • I had a hysteroscopy & D&C and I was just a little tired and had trouble peeing right after, but otherwise I had no issues.

  • hurts bad!!! cancel your appointment!!! lol...no seriously this REALLY HURTS!!!
