Ryu Shu Taiko & Kaoru Watanabe performing at the 2008 Sakura Matsuri.

This piece was performed to imatate the movement of throwing the nets filled with fish onto the shore. In celebration of their catch, they played taiko thus how this piece came to be.
I like this one! Anyone know what's it called?

  • Kodo made the style famous, they are from Sado island. However it is originally called Miyake-jima Kamitsuki Mikoshi Daiko". The word 'Miyake' comes from Miyake-jima which is an island of the Izu Island chain and located at 180km south of Tokyo. More information at:

  • It's called Miyake Daiko. Probably the most famous traditional taiko song. It comes from Sado Island.
