Dorothy Collins rose to fame on 1950's YOUR HIT PARADE, where she sang Lucky Strike commercial jingles. When Hit Parade made a complete cast change in 1957, Dorothy continued to appear on television as a guest on variety shows, did night club performances, and continued to make records and sing commercial jingles, like this one for ESSO gas stations. Dorothy also starred in the Broadway production of FOLLIES.

  • Esso was the first choice of people the whole world over...really? There were Esso gas stations all over the world?

  • This radio spot was probably recorded after "YOUR HIT PARADE" ended. It was designed to be the first half of a one-minute local commercial, with a local announcer or DJ adding, after her vocal, "That's right! Why not take a tip from Dorothy Collins and visit YOUR Esso dealer, right here in Crosswell Corners....".

  • Dorothy returned to "YOUR HIT PARADE" in the fall of 1958- after the 1957-'58 "cast change" failed to generate a "new" audience- and American Tobacco moved the show from NBC to CBS. However, despite an "overhaul" of the show's format, with Johnny Desmond as co-star, it ended in April 1959.

  • This is great. What a great lady and singer. i saw her-Miss.Collins on broadway in 71 in the musical-Follies,she stole the show, she was a joy,a great singer, and actress.i vaguely remember your hit parade, but we saw her in Follies twice, and her singing-Losing My Mind has never been matched. We saw her in summer stock in 1980 in corning,n.y. in Ballroom, again,a great performance. She has three daughters, one, i think has made a few films.Dorothy died to young. We have these great clips.bubbleburst.

  • ANY chance to hear the delightful Dorothy Collins again...singing ANYTHING...is a rare treat, and greatly appreciated!
