my dad was a chief of hull techniant he was one of the last ones on it before they sent her up the river.but i can say your tour is not as good as there tiger cruse was may she rest in peace
Great tour! I served on the 943, USS Blandy 79-81. I was 17 years old fresh from Stockton, Ca. Last of the old Navy. Would love to travel from San Francisco, to Bremerton. When is a good time to visit? I understand you need a ferry to get from Seattle to Bremerton. Can this be done in a day? Thanks again for posting.
i served aboard her in 1980-81 and went on the west-pac as well...i am planning a trip out to see her in july. my name is ossn wiesner...and am always looking for shipmates. find me on yahoo
Served aboard her in Fox Division 75-76. Southeast Asia and Persian Gulf and straight thru a cat 4 typhoon. Nearly rammed by Soviet cruiser in Arabian Sea with both ships at battle stations. Manned fathometer on her trip up Sacramento River to state capital July 3rd 1976. The next day I was the sole Color Guard at sunset on the bicentennial for visiting VIPs. Her keel was laid the day I was born. She was a good ship.

I was stationed on the Camden-Aoe-2 in Bremerton. The Turner Joy just became a museum ship at that time.
