  • Wheels are necessary on Trebs. First is to keep them from throwing themselves over. The second is that the wheels allow the treb to move more efficiently and actually add distance because of thse.

  • The treb is rolling forward when the projectile is released so any motion after that is inconsequential. Any trebuchet where the weight is started in front of the main axle will cause forward motion from the force of the weight dropping down and back (Newton's 2nd law). That is why floating arm variants of trebuchets are common.

  • Nice work, but you should lock the wheels in one direction. So that the whipper only can move forward and backwards. that will increase your distance, I guess. Because when the wheels turn to the left or right, they can block its movement, and then the whipper can throw himself ov
