@obsessedwgaming It's not because it's mainstream. Mainstream artists can be good, but the problem is that they are not popular because they are good. They are popular because they got signed to a major record label, who have a tough time distinguishing talent. The labels pour tons of money into whatever artist, flood the radio and MTV/VH1/BET/CMT with their music, and thus sell tons of albums.

Good news: that kind of promotion is slowly dying.

The music industry beyond sucks today. I don't understand how so many people (especially teenagers) can become so disillusioned with the lack of real talent and artistic integrity. It's all about making money these days. We get trite crap pushed down our throats by "artists" who are totally fake. Did you hear about how Fergie is being paid $4 million by a shoe company to incorporate their shoes into lyrics for her next album? It's all about the almighty dollar nowadays.

They are not radio DJ's, they are VJ.s (Voice Jockeys). The true radio dj's died back in the early 90's. Thanks to dumbass bush for signing a bill in the mid 90's for corporate businesses like (Clearchannel) to run the radio waves.

Yes..music back then is so much better than music is now. Before, they actually cared about what they were looking for, now all you need is a hot body or "swag".
