  • I recall Peter Ustinov saying that the only racially pure species were house-flies because they did not have the ability or imagination to breed outside their species.

  • Hmm, I find that hard to believe. Surely the simplest organisms don't mate with other species since it's purely automatic (response to smell or whatever). Plants will naturally do it since insects will make mistakes identifying the female.

Humans rarely do, and of course when mammals happen to mate successfully "extra-species", the resulting offspring is always sterile (a donkey say).

    Evidence required on that one!

  • Actually races (variations of a species) appear as a response to changing environmental conditions not by cross-breading. And there are many "races" of flies, the common house-fly being just one of them.

For example, the most common variation of a species that one thinks of is the color of human skin, and that only appeared as a response to the climate (hot weather - dark skin; cold weather - light skin).

  • Personally I don't think the word has any scientific meaning ("race" that is). We all possess the same genes and sometimes one will be "turned on" (or not) in response to environmental pressures.

As for the "turning on" part, I'm not sure how that proceeds but I think it requires breeding to occur (ie. with embryonic stem cells, so you'd need a whole new embryo).

    This all happens very fast.

Ex. Canadian/Chinese immigrants change wildly wrt. their grandparents (regardless of "race" lineage).

  • Some capitalists honestly achieve, but others are just PARASITES. THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM SUPERMEN. Only predators. SOCIETY should not be an "every man for himself" society.

  • @jfrasure Richard Wagner Tannhäuser Ouvertüre

  • Can someone tell me what the name of the song that is in the start of this video and end of the last video?

  • It's weird how they'll always play clips of hitler talking to the mob, but they'll never subtitle it. What was he SAYING?

  • GATTACA

  • Don't you think Peter Ustinov meant this not as scientific fact? He was himself a hybrid of hybrids. Don't you think he meant that unwillingness to interact socially with another species is something only fit for disgusting insects, with no imagination?
