@mikesome1383 i agree...however, I think they go way overboard with the silly.......it detracts from the emtional impact of the song...sometimes you don't want the intellectual , you just wanna good tune...I think the beatles had a good balance of the cheesy vs: dissonant backing......the way trey does it is simply jarring and out of place......totally, totally out of place....space...ace....space.­....brace.....

@oreokookie1000 Not a fill or frill. It's a composed portion of the tune. Tension and release, buddy...tension and release. That section of the tune is a musical palindrome, interestingly. I also think it makes the remaining sections of the song more poignant. You can't appreciate the almost (but not quite) cheesy, soaring melodies without something discordant and off-time having been played behind it.
