This light does a nice job for under $30 including bulbs. I suggest getting more powerful bulbs to really kick your growing up a notch. Here is a link to some nice ones that I plan to buy and install in this fixture:

85watt 6700K bulb: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002ZPHXU8?tag=tomosgard-20&camp=0&creative=...

85watt 2700K bulb: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YO0VRQ?tag=tomosgard-20&camp=0&creative=...

Comments welcome, thanks!

ALSO...If you'd like to share a photo of what you created with this idea, upload a photo to www.tinypic.com and send me the link to it. I'll add it to the sidebar info for others to see!

Check out these photo links for a 4 bulb version that You Tube user EatDrinkSmokeBeMerry came up with:

You Tube user betitalldiebroke sent these links and info to what he did:
I removed the the cage from the drop light, cut a hole in the hood, put the light through the hole, added the sockets, screwed in the bulbs and was done. I went with the 105watt CFL bulbs you linked.

  • Will the larger bulbs (like the ones you linked) fit into that fixture? The bulbs seems about 3 times bigger.

  • @nonplusify Yes they will. I used them in it.

  • hi i'm hgavinbg trouble finding the aluminium vent, i'm guessing it was a tube which u cut down?

  • @jointmasterjay No, these are pre-cut. No rough edges. You'll find them at Home Depot ect...

  • this mother fucker copied the old school dude

  • Nice 1 bro. What are those lights called again? Are they fluorescent? I liked it when you drilled that fuckin suit in the eye!

  • Your sense of humor is awesome!

  • You're misinformed in regards to light required for growing. I grew medicinal cannabis (a fairly needy and sensitive plant) beautifully with two 23 watt 2700k CFL bulbs.

  • very, very, very, very good video.

  • Thank you for your idea.

  • I would paint the inside of it white before adding all the hardware. I think that's more efficient than a reflective surface.

  • very cool idea. you could even spread the edges up, use a larger size vent for larger areas, etc. I see a lot of good merits here.

  • Great idea! Thanks

  • hi

  • @jointmasterjay it's called kd...it's 5 inch kd..used for a/c venting... dryer vents etc..
