  • Now what happens if the ship rammed into that really big one?

  • @FireSign27

I know what you are saying mate, I even mentioned it on the site, but it seems that getting out and shopping , walking meeting people etc is just a step to far because it requires a total engine rework and so on.

god I wish you could do those things real time on line may be in 10 years eh ?

  • Needs more tits.

  • It would be crazy if you could land ur ship on a planet, get out and do stuff... Like turn a planet into a huge farm or something. Surely the game's gonna have more than flying around in space, shooting other ships! It just has to.

  • @Collector2006 What you mention is only the basic types, which determins which libraries are used for the procedural generation. A planet of size x and type y still needs seed numbers to determine surface noise, elevation changes, water level, ground color, biomes, sky color etc - Those seed numbers are used in an algorythm that 'randomly' generates all those textures, bump maps and colors. Procedural generation is basically a random number generator, but more sophisticated.

  • @commandershadebetter Nah it wont be that big. The procedural generation only generates an entire galaxy to full-scale. even a dual core 2.1Ghz processor and 2GB of ram could handle it with ease. Might need a new gfx card though if they go for graphics too.

  • @commandershadebetter

From my understanding, games based on procedural generation are not particularly memory-heavy.

  • I came

  • @Ultermarto Don't know, but I think he means restrictions in general. This game is being billed as sandbox at the moment so I'm pretty sure any rule of any kind would be "dumbing down" Infinity and I agree. This game shouldn't be bogged down with a shit ton of rules like WoW. If anything, this game should be way more free than EvE Online.
