This is a retro PBS-style station identification & funding credits created for the opening of my recent video on the Atari Video System X prototype game system from 1982.

The intent was to create an authentic "look and feel" evoking the PBS science & technology documentaries and educational films of the late 1970's and early 1980's.

This exercise in design is provided in HD.

  • Too cool for words! I'd love to see your 3-2-1 Contact video. Awesome job.

  • @suntron24 THANK YOU! I'm glad you enjoyed it! : )

  • I was loving it when I saw this intro in that last vid. I was hoping you would incorporate it into all your videos pertaining to Atari. It certainly creates the "look and feel" you were shooting for, at least to me.

    Well done sir!

  • @JunmaiShu Thanks Junmai! I'm definitely working on it. I loaded this today because I'm just starting to experiment with HD on YouTube and I wanted to see how my graphics would look.. sometimes with YouTube compression, different file types, etc. the text and graphics don't always come out right.

I thought this would be a good clip to share - not only can I tinker with HD graphics but I think it's a clip people would like based on the feedback I've received on the Atari Video System X video

I hate lapsing into "20-something fogey" mode, but it's spoof videos like these that just drive home how much I miss one aspect of TV from the 80s and early 90s------it still used to be possible to find a few seconds of QUIET here and there. PBS especially, of course, since sponsor sequences tended to be very slow and simple, but commercial TV too----there actually used to be a second or two of silent black between show and commercial. Now even THAT's too much to ask...

  • Your "DBS" parody logo is the most professional PBS 1971 logo parody I've seen yet! What program did you use to draw and animate the graphics?

  • Where did you get the "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" footage from?

  • May I make a request for you to do an animation recreation of the 1971 PBS I.D. itself? I enjoyed this parody immensely.

  • this is gotta be the best intro ever

  • Nostalgia cake. It tastes so memorable. :]

  • Great intro. I'm loving it. You're doing some real broadcast quality stuff. Bravo :)

  • Hahaha, this is actually really clever. I remember PBS being like this in the Mid-90s when I used to watch stuff like Sesame Street when I was only 2 or 3 years old. In fact, you could consider that one of my earliest memories- I used to say "and viewers like you" along with the TV. :P Nice work.
