One of Simon & Garfunkel's best songs off of the album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.

LYRICS

Im sitting in the railway station,
Got a ticket for my destination,
On a tour of one-night stands, my suitcase
and guitar in hand
And ev'ry stop is neatly planned for a poet
and a one-man band.

Homeward Bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward Bound,
Home where my thoughts escaping,
Home where my musics playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

Evry days an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines.
And each town looks the same to me, the
movies and the factories
And evry strangers face I see reminds me
that I long to be,

Homeward Bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward Bound,
Home where my thoughts escaping,
Home where my musics playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Tonight Ill sing my songs again,
Ill play the game and pretend.
But all my words come back to me in
shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony I need someone
to comfort me.

Homeward Bound
I wish I was,
Homeward Bound,
Home where my thoughts escaping,
Home where my musics playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Silently for me

  • FUCK. Not many things can make me cry, but this song is one of them. Life is nothing more than a twisted, tangled mass of disillusionment and sorrow... When one friend commits suicide and all the others (along with you) start rolling every day and drinking/smoking to relieve the pain, the joys of life disappear. I long for the days of my childhood, when i listened to this song with my grandma and dad in santa cruz, with the smell of cigarettes and cotton candy drifting through the window...

  • classic tale of a singer on tour. Simple but moving.

  • The live version on Sounds Of Silence (1966) is also worth hearing!

  • @jimmymortis by smoke he means smoking pot or crack but not cigarettes.

  • @JohannSmitz hello, i am 14 too and i completely agree with you. let's be the pioneers of the next generation.

  • I wish I was homeward bound but I don't know what my home is let alone where.

  • written about five miles from where I'm sat typing if the legend is true.

  • @BruceLeDouche So the smoking is this negative thing we abuse to cope with the pain, but the smell of cigarettes in your drifting window? Its almost as if you are alluding to the negativity to come. Redonk

  • im guessing someone accidentally pressed dislike

  • @JohannSmitz i am also 14 and i also love these old generation artists..
