I have been listening to Mr. Cohen's music for many, many years now...I am greateful beyond words for the poetry, the beauty, the wisdom, the sensuality and the humour he has been sharing with us over the past decades. I've loved Leonard's music for years and own about every CD he's ever done. This song is one of the darkest he's ever written. He's always seemed to have a mystical bent, but here he's lost any vision of a loving reality that some might call God. As frequently, his meaning is not easy to parse. The 1st and 2nd verses don't jibe. Certainly, Leonard doesn't seem to have a lot of hope these days. I'm reminded that some later verses of 'Hallelujah' were much darker than those recorded earlier.

Muchísimas gracias Isisiva por compartirlo. Descubrí a Leonard Cohen cuando era joven cantando "Suzanne" y desde entonces soy un fan incondicicional y siempre que viene a España voy a donde pueda verlo actuar en directo. Con tu permiso lo añado a mis favoritos.
