A joke in this sense: maybe these guys can really play in tune and in time, and with a semblance of musical form, but they seem to be disregarding these basic concepts. Perhaps it's intentional. Reading their comments disrespecting or comparing themselves to truly great players makes me wonder. If you like their stuff, that's great! I hope that you continue to enjoy it. BTW, I have a good understanding of music and have played in bands that are along this line - ie. the "Nilhilist Spasm Band".

@namtil Why is this a joke? I think sometimes people laugh at things that they don't understand.

Everything sounds the same in today's music and though I don't really listen to jazz, at least these guys have an original style. I hope they keep going.
