Ever wonder what happens to homecoming floats after the parade? Once destined for the landfill or even worse, a ditch alongside a county road the floats are all now deconstructed immediately following the parade; materials are reused and recycled whenever possible. This is thanks to an official Ohio University policy a policy that saves waste from entering the landfill and the money it costs the university to ship that waste. Recycling and refuse manager Ed Newman wants to see Ohio Universitys example inspire other institutions across the country to do the same.
