Leon Thomas has an AMAZING voice! His yodel is nuts. Nobody, before or since, has had a voice quite like his. Love it! Great song.

As fans may recall, Leon introduces the band during this Live In Berlin performance. Guenter Lenz introductions includes: " If Guenter keeps on doing what he's doing Berlin won't have any walls. Bring down all those walls Guenter...Guenter Lenz on bass..." Obviously, it helped!

True, heartfelt brilliance. As great as Blues and the Abstract Truth is, Oliver's playing here, and on this recording in general, is, for me, his finest. Another great one who left us too soon! Was able to see Leon once, and it was okay, but in my view, this record was his masterpiece. Thank you for posting and thank goodness it's available on CD.

Oliver's solo is hypnotic. It must lower my heart rate and blood pressure, as it transfers me to a place of true calmness.
Why is this not playing right?

I LOVE this tune. I have listened to it over the years and it brings peace and tranquility. I am fortunate to have met Leon and heard him perform at the Jazz Showcase many years ago. His soothing music has gotten me through when times were very rough. And Oliver Nelson was AMAZING!! Thanks for posting these gifted musicians.

Your Welcome Trumpetplayer. I also haved LOVED this tune since the beginning. Your right, it does takes you back to your much needed roots...
Back in 1971 i traded my oboe in for an alto sax because I wanted to play just like Oliver Nelson. He wails on the last solo.
