Hey Don I love the idea and did the same but I still can't seem to get the armature off. The ratchet becomes extremely tuff to turn and I feel that I may end up breaking the armature instead. I also placed penetrating on the back side where the engine shaft meets the armature thinking that would help but it's really on there good. It is a 1973 5hp Briggs and is a red box looking type generator and no name. Let me know if anyone can help. Thanks

Donny,
Very well done, thank you for sharing. I just finished using your technique, including tapping the center of the armature. If you ever find yourself in MA/RI there is some cold beer or hot coffee waiting for you. Subscribed.

Another way to do this is with Hydraulics if you don't have a rod to put inside rotor. What you need is.. threads tapped just as done in this video.. Teflon tape and motor oil.. what you do is put the engine recoil side down.. (drain engine oil before doing this) and then fill the rotor shaft up with motor oil.. wrap your bolt with teflon tape so it can make a good seal.. then start turning the bolt in and within a few turns the rotor will pop off just as it did in this video.. but messier
