I was 18 when boomerang came out in 1992. I rewound A VCR TO HEAR THIS SONG OVER AND OVER.......
The soundtrack didn't include this song (the best song in the movie!)
So yeeeeaaarrrrrssss later in 2005 I found it on a random google search. FINALLY.

Omg!!! Like, for real.... I hum this loop like every month every since I heard it back when it first premiered on the HBO Friday night movie back in 97. I've searched EVERYWHERE for this. Under the credits it was like string quartet in G. But I never found it anywhere. One of my favorite loops.

George Michael definitIy gets the props for inspiring this one. Actually, I remember hearing that the song used for Boomerang's intro was just an instrumental interlude of Michael's that Eddie Murphy liked. Murphy encouraged him to make it into a full length song and that's where Cowboys and Angels comes from.

@iluvlycheenuts it's a sample :)
This sounds remarkably similar to George Michael's "Cowboys and Angels"

I just listened to Cowboys & Angels and you are so right! I need to do a little research. Love George Michael, but not familiar w/ that tune.

Cowboys and Angels was released before the movie Boomerang and b4 Miller's M2 album. I suppose Miller took elements out of the original to tribute or perhaps he helped arrange, but I can't find a link that says either things. George Michael did write Cowboys & Angels, but it was the ONLY single released that didn't do very well. I suppose that had something to do w/ Marcus Miller using that baseline...who knows...I'm just guessing...thanks for the head up.
