Love this. I miss Gene. I am so glad we have his videos on YouTube. Thanks.

Gene Pitney was always among my favorite singer/song writers of the "Oldies Era". This song is one of the most underrated gems in Rock & Roll History. Gene's early recordings (before he was a big star) should have been much more successful. He was a genius from the very beginning! The short video tribute honoring his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is fantastic. I love Vintage Rock & Roll, and Gene Pitney is one of the most important reasons. We are all richer because he lived.

@robertsafner After he passed, I bet you really appreciated being able to see this legend and maybe you even talked to him. If you did, lucky you!

I love, love, love this song, but my favorite Gene song is still "Just One Smile."

my favorite pitney song (and i DO have all of them...) --"robertsafner"-your comment is amazing- kind of like passing by Elvis on the way to the store. Gene's voice was so unique and catchy, which is why i started listening to him at age 5, starting with "It Hurts To Be In Love"(not that a 5-yr-old knows much about that kind of love, but if that tune doesn't make you dance, you are probably dead)

@polkadotbox2 I live in Somers CT, the same town that Gene Pitney lived. I use to see Gene at the post office everyday at 10 am. he was a very nice down to earth man.

never heard this song until i got one of his cds. quickly be came a favorite.

I'm surpirsed this didn't get picked up by a dozen Merseybeat bands. It's tailormade for some band like the Searchers.

I had not heard this Pitney song before. Thanks.

this is such a peppy song! I love his others, but it is nice to hear one that is a little more positive. He had such a wonderful voice and I remember him in the early 6o's. He wasn't around the states too much, it seems when the British Invasion hit, that was all everyone wrote about and some of the early singers went unnoticed.

Just to clarify, Joe didn't produce, he just wrote it. How it came to Gene's attention I have no idea. I have to say on hearing this I prefer Joe's unreleased version by Bobby Ross! Well it does have his unique production trademarks!
This is actually 1964.
