My Brothers, Pat and Mike, and I are still waiting for full-and-complete disclosure under the Laws of the Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts Request Numbers 1176234-000 (Pat DiMauro, Senior) and 1177597-000 (L.A. DiMauro). Saturday, February 25, 2012 (C.E.), 11:48 AM (Earth-Eastern Standard Time)
@cliffandy I believe, though I may be wrong of course, that 'Simply Jesus' is a brand new book, and that 'After You Believe' was written to follow on from 'Simply Christian', which I heartily recommend, along with 'Surprised by Hope'.
@76rwc I think that's part of his allure. He's easy on the ears and doesn't claim a 'doctrinal' approach to the text but rather a 'meat and potatoes' approach to reading the text for its own sake.
@tonante27 Interesting. I don't know Rydelnick's book but it sounds like it's good for you.
For what it's worth, if you have time, Wright wrote a rejoinder to 'Simply Jesus' called 'After you Believe.' You may be interested in it if you really enjoyed the first book.
@cliffandy I just bought Simply Jesus about a week ago and am also reading Dr. Michael Rydelnick's latest book Messianic Hope: Is the Old testament Messianic? The two book complement each other somewhat because NT Wright seems to focus on the histroical Jesus while Dr. Rydelnick focuses on the Messianic prophecies of the Tanahk.
simply, wow. Indeed enlightening, I say that as an atheist - I could 'follow' the Jesus described and contextualised here, absolutly. A wonderful hermenutic, if that is a phrase
@tonante27 Yours is a very thoughtful perspective. Have you read any of Wright's work? I'd like to try to conquer his historical Jesus trilogy one day.
@cliffandy Maybe that was providential to go to Moody in order to enlighten the student body in attendance there to have them at least ponder the position that their instituiion adheres to and to understand the intepretation form a non-Dispensational perspective. I am not a Dispensationalist.
As much as I appreciate Wright and his willingness to go to a variety of places to speak about his work, it strikes me odd that he would accept an invite from Moody. Dispensationalism is repulsive as a modern notion of protestant Christianity.

@helenawren You may be right, Helen. I may have the titles confused when I commented originally. Oh well. Please don't sue me, I'm not wealthy!
