The Virtual Revolution Episode 1: Explores the origins, history and impact of the Internet and World Wide Web (WWW). From its Cold-War military origins in the 1950;s, through its evolution as a meeting place of the 1960s hippy/libertarian movement, to its modern-day incarnation through the genius of Tim Berners-Lee and other like minded pioneers. The Internet/WWW is seen as powering the 2nd Industrial Revolution; its impact on humanity as profound as Guttenbergs Printing Press, or the power of Steam to the original Industrial Revolution.

  • @VolumeDean

but sadly an illusion that will become very clear, very fast

  • "declaration of independence of cyberspace" lol that's the most pretentious thing I've heard in the last two weeks. Gotta hate artists when they fancy about being politicians. Influence, fame, influence, fame blahblahblah please retire

  • @tempemonkey just because people believe in something does not make it correct. as for manipulation, it already happens. american and other politicians are terrible at keeping promises and are excellent at rhetoric. as such, they get a disproportionate amount of power. i find this unjust.

  • @JohnDemolition My point is that people are better electing a representative that THEY DEEM AS BEING SMART AND WITHOUT AN AGENDA....... they are better off doing this than being manipulated by thousands of corporations fighting for their dollar..... This hospital is best because.... This school really saved more money than the other school..... Those guys really don't make the best roads, we do.... etc....

Libertarians take away one politician and add hundreds more... Think about it.

  • @tempemonkey2323

straw man. also, you assume that the people who get elected are smart and without any kind of agenda.

also, a harvard degree is no measure of intelligence. just a measure of how long you can put up with school.

as for your last comment, fallacy of composition. my original statement holds true since you seem to equate normal people as stupid and people in government as smart. another assumption you should check.

  • @JohnDemolition People like you make my head hurt.

Look, we hire representatives who have the expertise and time to look at the issues and make rational choices. This is what happens right now. To say that since 1000 uneducated idiots in the suburbs cannot consider what hospital legislation is better than another (and therefore invest in) then 1 person with a Harvard degree cant?

According to your logic, since my neighborhood couldn't split the atom, neither could Einstein

    Headache!!!

  • @tempemonkey2323

if human being can't, neither can the government since it too is made up of human beings.

  • I seriously doubt that the libertarian movement played the large role the lady claims. She obviously has an agenda. She obviously doesnt realize that libertarians are fucking dangerous to civilization..... Vote with you dollar? Do they really think human beings could handle a system where they decide how to distribute their money in exchange for social benefits.... Not in a million years.....

They are mainly trying o figure out how to keep poor minorities from taking tax money.

  • The WELL, yesterday's 4chan.

    :P
