i have this and if you adjust the setting it plays like a beast

in a live situation, having used plenty of other bass overdrives, the overdrive on this pre-amp is far better than the video makes it sound, its full, throaty and not harsh while remaining bassy.

mhhm, I don't know. I never used it in front of my amp, because there no need to do this in my situation. It would ruin the sound of my Ampeg V4BH. ;)

hey, to be honest:
I like the sound of the ehx metaphors much more than the sound of the m80+, BUT the mxr m80 seem's to be better for "live-and-to-the-road-use" (groundlift, less noise, less hum). Really I don't know I think about selling the m80 and buy a ehx metaphors again (I don't use the noisy compressor)....

my feeling:
the metaphors a preamp with a more vintage style character (like an ampeg tube amp or a bassman). the m80 sounds is a modern preamp type (gallienkrueger). BUT neither the metaphors sounds like ampeg amp nor the m80 like a gallienkrueger amp. it's only the style of the preamps
