I was a total fanatic when I was a kid. I even got the entire Eagle playset for Xmas. Gawd I had such a crush on her! ;-)

Maya is my favourite TV character too! I still watch "Space: 1999" on dvd. It's my
favourite TV show of all time! I have the films on dvd too: Alien attack, Journey
through the black sun, Cosmic princess and Destination moonbase Alpha.

Her real name is Katharina Schell von Bauschlott; born in Budapest, her father was a baron of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and her mother was from Hungarian nobility.

The best episode with "Maya" when she was acting in "Space 1999" was the episode "Rules of Luton".
The short time she did speak with the commander "John Koenig" in this episode when he was hurt was brilliant. Also his speaking with her about his wife who died in a war was great.

This is when the Show got good. Maya was a great character and I wish the show would have lasted longer with her character on it!

i am amazed that the makeup techs on this show didnt continue with the same makeup in every show for Maya sometimes her darksides would extend from her ears other times it wouldnt also her eyebrows where always differently shaped. like I didnt realise they had a beauty therapist on Moon Base cause the doc sure cud of used some of the help at that beauty salon ha ha ha way to go thanks for posting :) check it out if U dont believe what I say about maya and her different stages of being a cycon

Yes they used less and less of that make-up as the season went on. In the end there was hardly any left.

Catherine Schell actually guest starred in a first-season episode...but not as Maya. In that one (I don't remeber the title) she played the human-like avatar of an evil computer system corrupting the minds of the Alphans.

Yeah, that was the "Guardian of Piri". I don't think I'd recognised her had I not known it was her. I'm so used to seeing her with the Maya make-up.
