Victory at Sea The Road to Mandalay
Release Date: April 19, 1953 ... (Episode #24)

Episode # 24. Japan invades China in 1936, but the Japanese are not satisfied, and they began to invade Indochina and Thailand, paving the way for the invasion of Burma. The U.S. and British Navies nurture their relations with the Indian Navy as supplies are building up for the return back. Eventually, it was decided to build a road to link up with the Burma Road, and with human and elephant power, they succeeded. Eventually, they "came back to Mandalay", and the first supplies traveled the road to hordes of cheering Chinese.

  • How many Chinese in a horde?

The folks who were our allies then became our enemies and are now our trading partners. Orwell is the only one who keeps us from being dizzy with the turnarounds.

  • Yes! Interesting how people and or nations are branded by the dumb dumb media and politicians.

  • By looking at the footage of this video you'd think the Americans had equal share in the fighting for Burma. It was the British Indian Army that did 90% of the fighting in India/Burma and broke the back of the IJA. The rest was done by the Chinese. Air supply is the USs' greatest contributor to the war in Burma, their groundwork was fleeting at best.

  • Wars always devastate environment. Battle in Burma destroyed large areas under forest, killed wildlife -soldiers eat every possible animal that they could lay hand on-snakes,monkeys ,deer, birds.Hope the nature there is restored after the gap of 70 yrs since then.

  • thx....
