To help clear up some of the comments along the lines of "why make a stylus with a tip that large" The Ipad's screen is designed for finger touch input only it was not intended for stylus'. This is why this design and most stylus designs feature a 5mm or larger tip, if the tip is smaller the input will either start to "skip" or not work at all which ends up being more frustrating then having a stylus with a large tip.

Is this kind of tech going to make the wacom tablets obsolete soon?

Yup. That's why the smaller the tip, the mushier it has to be, so it will be retracted more easily, in order to achieve the minimum round area that activates the input. You gain in precision but lose in responsiveness, unless the tip is softer to compensate. Some stylus are one way, some are the other (solid but larger). No stylus is perfect.

would love to see this tech on non-apple tablets, especially 14-inch version of asus transformer book. that would be a serious wacom killer.

The point is, people want affordable wacom cintiqs. Which isn't going to happen. Which is hugely depressing.

Two grand for a display and digitizer? What a goddamn ripoff.

Is there no way to make this without a giant ugly cumbersome crayon contact surface or the stupid flat flap and accuracy issues of the Jot?

"It better be over 1024, or it is trash."

thanks for the laugh! but don't blame the tools because you're a noob! thats only a foolish excuse! many people drew AMAZING stuff on ipad with their fingers or a POS cheap stylus with no pressure sensetivity at all yet they managed to draw a good looking brush stroke! so stop being obsessed over the pressure sensitivity for god sake!

a video for you in case this comment didn't convinced you!

@hearourheartsbeat Well, I can't wait to get the finished product! Steve jobs should have thought about digital artists on the go; fat tipped styluses are already the same as "fat" fingers.

sadly, no. it uses bluetooth 4.0 which isnt available on the iPad 2. Get a Jot Touch or a Jaja. Jot Touch uses BT2, and the Jaja uses a sound frequency to sync with the iPad so it will work with ALL iPads :)
