  • Thanks Lenny Bruce, I'll be lookin for you.

    Cheers, Lenny

  • Thanks pal, glad you enjoyed it. Many more ideas to come soon. Len

  • Thanks pal, this is just a start. I usually have 20-25 vintage nat's in the shop. I have several other ideas, including using separate audio recording and then laying it over the video.

Appreciate the props, but I'll have more and better shootouts in the near future. Best, Len

  • Hi, I appreciate your honest opinion, and thanks for contributing. Best of luck, Len

  • very well done,thank you

  • EXCELLENT!

  • That shirt at 2:35 killed that guitars tone.

  • My dad owned a 1914 National hawaiian style steel guitar....any idea's what its worth, excellent shape! In storage mostly....

  • Nothing can touch the sound of the steels.....The German Silver is "o.k.", the Brass is "cheap sounding". The Wood switched places for 2nd best sound with the German Silver. Depending on mood, music etc. the Wood is no slouch at all. Oh, and my computer speakers are pro studio monitors in the grand each range.....

Excellent idea and good execution. I would love to see and hear a recap of this through the eyes and ears of a Kodak Zi8........

    Way to go NationalGuitarMan

  • Great demo. Thanks for all the work that went into it. The minute you hit the 1931 Duolian, I heard that Fred MacDowell sound, and I've been trying to find out if that's what he played on his album back in the early-mid 60s on Arhoolie. Can't find the info on the web. Anyone know?

  • It's kind of hard to tell for sure when you are (a) recording audio with a camera mic (b) the files are compressed mp3s and (c) the sound is coming out of people's computer speakers. But I must say I'm partial to the sound of steel.

  • I have the 28 wood body took me a while to realize that was the original coverplate, mine had the paint stripped off still has patent applied for where the fretboard ends, and the lady in hawaii on the back is intact. I also have the 31 steel body, my favorite sound of all the nationals, I had an early german sivler triplate (12 fret neck) sold to a bluegrass band the Seldom Scene so I could buy an engine for an old Lotus I was restoring, I still miss that one, wish I kept it. Great video!

  • thanks lenny. in the next couple months i am going to purchase from your website. thanks for the nice comparison.
